Nanneella woman wins lucky $50k prize in a national Yellow Brick Road competition

In this article:

A woman from the small town of Nanneella in regional Victoria has won Yellow Brick Road’s Celebrity Apprentice Australia $50,000 competition.

Connie Anderson was the lucky winner randomly drawn from 45,000 entrants who had to tell Mr Bouris how they would spend $50,000 if they won it. Mr Bouris told the entrants in a video if they were ‘hired or fired’ based on their spending decision.

Ms Anderson was definitely ‘hired’ by Mr Bouris and now will be able to make real her dream of using the $50,000 to “pay off debts and put some money towards her daughter's university education.”

The Nanneella woman moved from Melbourne 25 years ago and has raised her three children in the regional area. She now has a big extended family with four other step children. One of her passions is animals and has recently become a breeder for miniature bulldogs.

She has never won anything like this before, Ms Anderson said she’s still in shock.

“I was watching the recent series of Celebrity Apprentice Australia and saw the Yellow Brick Road competition and thought I’d give it a try. I entered hoping and wishing but never expecting to actually win.”

“It's all a bit surreal and hard to take in. I couldn’t believe it was real and thought it had to be a hoax when I got the call. When I discovered it was really true, many tears were shed and I kept repeating 'oh my God'.”

Ms Anderson is being presented the prize money at her neighbourhood Yellow Brick Road Bendigo branch at 10am on Monday, 18 January.

Branch Principal and Wealth Manager of Yellow Brick Road Bendigo Andrew Drummond said: “We have been working very hard to help residents in our area reach their financial hopes and dreams.  It’s great to see a local getting involved in the Yellow Brick Road Celebrity Apprentice $50k challenge and taking home a big prize that will surely help boost her family’s financial future.”

“Many people are unsure of the best ways to structure their finances to find ways to save, invest and budget to reach their goals. For example, beyond winning $50,000, some people would actually be able to save an amount like over the life of their home loan if they simply refinanced to a better rate.  We are always available to have a chat if you have questions about what’s best for your personal situation,” he said.

Yellow Brick Road Bendigo is located at 3 Kennedy Street, Bendigo and can be contacted at 03 5445 3550.
